The end of May rose to 100 degrees.
By the next week, rain hit my aluminum roof
like spare change poured from a sack.
Within three days, the thermometer
bloomed to 100 again with rain
in the forecast for the first week of June.
Despite what they say, California has seasons.
A new one each week.

Great word choice: “The thermometer bloomed.” Nice description of the rain hitting the aluminum roof “like spare change poured from a sack.”
thank you
I can imagine that is how rain sounds on an aluminum roof: “like spare change poured from a sack.”
Yes, that’s trailer park life.
I like the description of rain on the aluminum roof. One of my favorite restaurants here has some sort of roof that sounds much the same. I don’t make reservations there if rain is predicted!
It can be nerve-wracking
That spare change – sudden, loud, chaotic – brilliant!
Thank you!
Rain and heat pours a lot of coin. Here in Florida we call it swamp boogie. We have a tin roof and when the rains comes down merciless it’s more of a bebop snare. Loved the leaky rhymes in this.
Thanks. ‘Bebop snare’ is delightful!
Just what revivedwriter said: Great word choice: “The thermometer bloomed.” Nice description of the rain hitting the aluminum roof “like spare change poured from a sack.”
thanks!
Great Write! One of my favorite sounds …. rain on a tin roof. Cheers.
